Another very successful day in the woods…. admin, August 11, 2024August 11, 2024 We are home from the Cork Motor Club’s Jim Walsh Cork Forest Rally with more silverware. Also, it was a very successful first run for Damien’s new Fiesta. The gang of people hanging onto the spanners were Joe, Mike and Daniel providing actual technical ability. They were ably assisted by Jason (who provided plenty tae), Scully, Ryan and Charlie. Darragh was on work placement and was learning the correct way of holding a spanner. I was on window duties and generally got in the way. Annmarie, Anna and Fiona arrived to provide glamour and proceeded to take all the bottles of ethanol based beverages the webmaster provided…. Ian as usual finished first in class (I just jinxed it now) in 11F while Colin and Damien had close battle all day. Colin just missed out on third in class by about 2 seconds. Damien, as can be seen above, was chasing Colin all day and came off second best in that little sporting battle. As for how the vehicles performed, Vincy can sum it up in a picture. Colin ran faultlessly all day. It was boringly reliable, just needing fuel and a window clean all day. Damien’s electric window switch decided to sulk for a few moments but decided to fix itself (probably scared of Daniel and the multimeter). A door handle also made a break for freedom but it was foiled…. Macca had a bolt or something work loose in the engine mounts. I think it was more of a dramatic break for the border compared to the door handle by shearing off completely. It was foiled by a drill, WD-40 and a bolt but it put up a fight. Bitzy also had a bung in the floor pop off and made Macca’s shoes dirty. It had to be plugged…. We’ll no doubt have more stories to share once we get some rest. We’ll fire some of the stories and videos up here in the upcoming days. Special thanks to O’Donovan Engineering https://www.odonovaneng.ie, PI Cycles https://www.picycles.ie/ and Cork Motor Club for a wonderful day out….. Cars Damien Macca Rallies
And back to the shed… April 19, 2025April 19, 2025 We are back in the shed after the Moonraker adventure with the little Fiesta. I don’t know why it’s called little when it’s a lot more spacious inside than Macca’s Civic. Why are some things called “little” or “small” when they are measurable not? Also, why is a Wagon Wheel… Read More
Roll on the whacking of the bush….. September 17, 2024September 17, 2024 Its almost time for the Red Mist venture “up north” for the Bushwhacker. In a change to last year’s event, carrots are off the menu as there’s no night stages this year (boo hoo!). However, it does mean that Bitzy won’t get to munch on plastic coated copper this year…… Read More
And it starts again…. January 14, 2024January 27, 2024 Just a brief note to say that activities have recommenced in the shed and fettling of the cars have commenced. Bitzy is in about 10 million bits scattered from here to there. Progress was made as I cleaned the lower coolant hose, despite the engine being held in place with… Read More
