So, how do we actually get ready for an event? admin, April 9, 2024April 9, 2024 So, wanna know our secrets in how we actually get ready for an event? Pull up a chair and it’s time to reveal the secrets….. The work starts when we come home from the previous event. We resist the temptation to call the local metal recycling facility to find out how much we would get for scrap per tonne and start by firing some soap and water in the general direction of the car. Its dragged into the shed and unceremoniously abandoned in the corner left to sulk for a while. After a suitable period abandoned for the heap to left sulking, it’s dragged out and fired up on axle stands. This is where my technical knowledge runs out but I think spells are cast involving a 14mm and 17mm spanner, or something. There could be a dash to the local scrapyard and maybe raiding the kids piggy bank. Plenty Tea is drunk during these spanner spell casting ceremonies. Then, about two to three weeks before the event, the WhatsApp starts making noises and Patrick kicks in to sort the event paperwork, getting the rest of us lined up and shouting instructions. I break out the “spit-n-polish” to make it look half way clean and mainly to stop the scrutineers from getting too dirty when doing their checks. The last week then is a blur of doing EVERYTHING ELSE but getting ready until Saturday morning of the event. The most important thing to remember is the fruit bowl for service. All that’s left then is to drive. Sure what could go wrong? Cars Rallies Uncategorized
