Moonraker report…. admin, April 18, 2026April 18, 2026 No, we are not gone to ground. Contrary to reports, we have not turned into hamsters. Some of us ventured above ground to go help out at the Moonraker. Myself and Macca went marshalling on stage 2 and 5, the Vee. The rest of the Red Mist crew were “otherwise engaged”. Oh ya. Likely excuse. Ah, the Vee. A stage well known in rallying for being fast, tough and trouble. Trouble caused by water splashes and fast roads. It was running in a clockwise direction and we ended up about half way, close to where it turns back for home. An interesting day was had. We’ve no pictures of course (we were marshalling!) but a busy day. We had 27.56tonnes of stones thrown by competition cars, mechanical dramas and lumberjacking, all before lunch! Lunch was a disaster for myself as the flask decided not to seal any more and the contents had leaked. After lunch was more mechanical dramas (oh driveshaft matron!) and another 17 metric tonnes of stones flying. We did have to do a small bit of rescue on the way out. Ah, the way out! The stage cut up something unbelievable. The ruts were so deep in places the jeep was hitting the ground, and it wasn’t in one patch only! We made it out and we can confirm that no, we were not in a fierce rush for pints (if you know, you know….) Ah well, back to the shed where the marriage of the Civic engine with the car still is in the planning stage…… Macca Rallies
